We are now in lockdown stage. Because whole world is now at pandemic situation. Corona virus is now more deadly. Only making the social distancing we can prevent the virus. So we have to stay home to protect our country, to protect our society and to protect our friends and family. In this situation some of us getting bored and some of us facing mental anxiety. To overcome from this bored and anxiety situation one of the best way is cooking. So let’s starts. Today’s preparation is Mochar Ghanto (মোচার ঘন্ট ) or Banana Flower Curry. And it is a very popular dish in  bengali ranna ghor.


As markets are mostly closed now. But few vegetable markets are open. After taking proper protection if possible arrange one Mocha or Banana Flower. It is price around Rs. 35/ to 40/-

Ingredients:



  1. Mocha or Banana Flower
  2. 4 pieces of potato
  3. 50 grams mustard oil
  4. 50 grams chana dal
  5. ½ table spoon pach foron
  6. Red chili power (as required)
  7. ½ table spoon of garam masama
  8. ½ table spoon cumin power
  9. Bay leaf ( 4-5 pieces)
  10. Ginger paste
  11. 1 table spoon of ghee

Process:




Step -1

Wash the mocha or banana flower. Before you starts the process take some mustered oil in to your hand. And remove the outer part or peel to get the main banana flower inside. Continue the process until you reach the white chong like structure. This process is lengthy.


Step -2

Remove the white matchstick like stem inside the banana flower. After the process done, chop all the banana flowers. Then take some water and then give the chopped banana flower in to the water for soaking. Stay as it is for 3 to 4 hours.


Step – 3


Take a pressure cooker and pressure cook the chopped banana flowers in just little water to immerse them and give one whistle. Drain the water properly and stay it for cooling.


Step -4


Make so daler bora (Lentil Fritters) in this time. And boil the potato. Remove the skin of the potatoes. Chop them at least 5 to 6 pieces.



Step -4


Take a kadai or pan and then give some mustard oil in to it. Boil it. Give the pay leaf in the hot mustard oil. After it turns in to brown give the panch foron in to it. Finally give some ginger paste.


Step -5


Low the oven flame. Give the boiled potatoes and fry for some time until it’s properly baked. 


Step -6


 Now give the copped boiled Mocha or banana flower in to it. Give some salt, turmeric power, chili powder, Cook on low flame until it turned dark brown. Plop little water in between to avoid sticking in your kadai or pan.


Step- -7


Give smashed dalar bora (Lentil Fritters) and finally give 2 to 3 table spoon of ghee in to the Mochar Ghanto (মোচার ঘন্ট ) or Banana Flower Curry .

Finally your preparation is ready. It is a very popular dish in every bengali ranna ghor or Bengali kitchen. Serve it with hot rice.
